Spencer Yeager
Spencer Yeager is a Ph.D. candidate studying Analytical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Arizona under the supervision of Dr. Erin L. Ratcliff. Prior to arriving in Tucson, he received a B.S. in Chemistry and Minor in Information Science and Technology from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. His current research involves studying the electrochemical heterogeneity of printable electronic materials for energy harvesting and storage. Spencer believes that these materials, which are low cost and environmentally friendly, will be the key to making renewable energy and energy storage accessible to everyone, leading to a more sustainable future.
In addition to being a chemist, Spencer tries his best to be an electrical engineer and computer scientist. He messes around with Arduinos to make LEDs blink and writes code to make his life easier. Spencer is an avid believer in science communication and the importance of making the general public aware of the science they are helping to fund.
When not in the lab, you will likely find Spencer skateboarding to Caffe Luce to grab a coffee, listening to The Strokes, or off on a hike.
